My father was a general contractor specializing in custom houses, doing 95% of the work in-house for years to control quality. Growing up, I was accustomed to a high standard in everything from the initial foundation to the finished trim. Although I chose a different career path initially, my perspective changed when I built our own house from the ground up, using no subcontractors except for the concrete and part of the drywall on the vaulted ceilings that were nearly impossible for one person to handle. I discovered that I enjoyed the work more than I thought I would and that it came naturally.
A while later, a few friends, dissatisfied with the lack of quality in work done by local contractors, requested that I handle large projects for them. The first project was a $450,000 barn featuring two-story sections, offices, a conference room, and restrooms. Within a few months, we were completing a $750,000 barn-style building with a concrete vault and guest quarters. From there, things took off, and we expanded into steel buildings, both erecting kits and constructing custom steel structures. We chose to fabricate high-end projects in-house to ensure quality control.
Today, our primary focus is on steel buildings, though we are happy to take on projects ranging from pole barns to high-end heavy timber structures. We prioritize quality over everything else, often turning down projects where clients aim to cut corners and compromise structural integrity. In all our work, quality is paramount, and we stand by our commitment to excellence. Although no work is entirely free of human error, we take responsibility for our mistakes and never cut corners.
To date, we have lost no structures in any storms, and to the best of my knowledge, not even a piece of trim has been damaged. Quality control is at the heart of our process, and one of the most critical aspects of this is the integrity of our employees. We believe skills can be taught, but integrity and attitude are harder to instill. When we find individuals with a good attitude and strong work ethic, we do our best to take care of them, resulting in no minimum wage employees and a very low turnover rate.
Value Over Cost
While the work we do may not be “cheap,” the value we provide is second to none. In recent years, it has become painfully clear to many who have experienced severe storms that cutting corners in construction often leads to greater long-term expenses. Our clients are typically individuals who want the best results with minimal drama, and we strive to deliver just that.
